img6843The Bowman Starlight 46 has undergone a number of exacting boat tests by leading magazines during its first year, both in the UK and Europe and each time has been acclaimed as one of the finest yachts of its size. The combination of the Starlight performance hull design coupled with the high quality craftsmanship of Bowman has produced the powerful Bowman Starlight 46, a yacht about which Yachting World commented "There's a touch of class about this boat which definitely puts her in the Swan league".

The Bowman Starlight 46 combines the talents of two top UK yacht designers Stephen Jones, who has already displayed his skills with the Starlight 39 and 35, and Jonathan Sherwill who has gained a world reputation for interior design and layout.

img6840Bowman have built a yacht of strength and grace in the Starlight 46. Producing a yacht which is an ocean thoroughbred with luxury and style, designed to be comfortably handled by only two people but when fully crewed, capable of being raced competitively in regattas and long distance passage races. A choice of cutter or sloop rig reflects the owners sailing style.

img6842Interior layout options can be customized to satisfy most owners' requirements offering a choice of 6/8 berths in four cabins or 4 berths in two cabins. The owner can also select the choice of galley layout with either a "linear" galley in the saloon, favored by many charter companies, or the more traditional "L" shaped offset galley. A light and airy interior is achieved by fitting eight deck hatches as well as opening ports providing excellent ventilation. Hand built interior furnishings in either teak or cherry create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for this comfortable performance cruising yacht.

img6841The deck layout of the Bowman Starlight 46 displays the designer's experience and expertise in the ergonomics of sail handling, with halyards and reefing lines led from the mast to the cockpit beneath hinged hatches, keeping the decks clear and uncluttered while easily accessible. The "T" shaped cockpit is over 3.2 metres long, the helmsman's area has twin steering wheels each with its own engine controls for ease of manuevering. This arrangement allows excellent forward visibility and comfortable sitting out space, as well as facilitating the docking procedure in marinas. The crew area has ergonomically positioned twin primary winch pedestals, to allow winches to be operated efficiently from the center line without stooping. An electric halyard winch is also provided for the mainsail. A drop down transom door incorporates the liferaft stowage locker and allows safe boarding from a dinghy.
